It’s been too long to simply profess embarrassment, but alas the changes brewing at Adworkshop and Inphorm will hopefully be worth our tardy blog posting habits.

With Thanksgiving happening this week, we decided to come up with a list of things that we are thankful for.

1. A resurgence of press trips.

2. Tryptophan - we love that sleepy feeling.

3. Tom and Adele for giving us Friday off.

4. The fact that it’s ‘freezing on’.

5. Not being on Chris Anderson’s blocked PR list.

What are you thankful for?

 Happy Thanksgiving!

Doe a deer a female deer.  How familiar am I with this lovely creature?  Two separate hits within seven days totaling thousands of dollars in damages - and picking up car number three tomorrow. Wish me luck!  Highlights of advice bestowed upon me:  get a hunting license and I’ll be guaranteed to never see another deer; lobby our “Hunting” lawmaker to open up “doe season;” put a Hornet whistle on my car to announce my pending arrival to deer, dogs, cats, children, in short, anything or anybody that may be in my way; drive a truck with a plow attachment; or my personal fave, drive an armored vehicle.

This is not about sneakers.
This is about excellent customer service to someone that just happened to be a blogger.

So on Monday, we had a great company lunch with lots of delicious food.  The most delicious part of lunch was the garlic bread.  I think I had roughly 8 pieces, equally one entire loaf of bread.  So everyone was either being really nice or the saying that ‘two garlics cancel each other out’ is true.  Either way, my husband was literally repulsed enough to run to the other side of the room when I got home.  Did anyone else experience extreme garlic breath from lunch?  I think I might invest in this new gadget so that I can take advantage of those garlic breath moments up here in the north.

Hikes along the jackrabbit trail, about 10 feet behind our building, are always so invigorating.  It is a shame and, perhaps, revealing that we don’t run into each other more often on our way to the lake – when was the last time you took advantage?  I’m game to start up a weekly noontime hike – come rain, shine and snow.  In preparation for this, I am bringing my clippers into the office this coming Friday to clear the brambles from our own, little trail head.  By the way, did you know the trail is named in memory of Herman (Jackrabbit) Johannsen, a Norwegian-born pioneer of cross-country skiing in the US?  Johannsen loved and used our trail over a half-century ago. He lived to the ripe old age of 111 and, to those seeking a long life, he advised “Ski, ski, ski.”

It’s finally October, which always gets me to start thinking of the holidays.  And then I remember that before I can get to stuffing myself to death on turkey, we have to get through the worst holiday of the year.  Halloween.   

According to wikipedia (which we all know is the most credible source of information available today), Halloween did not come to the U.S. until the 19^th century.  Too soon if you ask me.  I believe my hatred of this day can be traced back to my elementary school years of trick-or-treating.  I was never the victim of an ‘egging’ or anything, but my dad thought of trick-or-treating as the legal acceptance of soliciting his children to beg for free stuff.  We were pushed from house to house until way past our bedtime in the attempt to get as much candy as possible…for my dad.  I don’t particularly care for most varieties of candy, so I saw no reward in this awful act of dressing up like an idiot, walking around at night and getting cold.  My dad encouraged my brother and I to move as fast as possible (RUN!) and to take the shortest route from house to house (Don’t go down the driveway, cut across the lawn!).  This is probably why I buy 4 times too much Halloween candy so I can give each kid that comes to my house two handfuls. 

As someone without children, I thought I’d be safe but, I still get constant reminders of this awful day.  The terrible decorations that people put up in front of their house; invitations to adult Halloween parties; and three days ago I heard my grandmother telling someone that I was born in Salem, Mass., the Halloween capital of the U.S. (my parents moved from there 1 week before I was born, thank god!). 

As a result of all of this trauma, I also have very strong negative feelings toward the color orange.  Which of course, I see each day here at agency.  So if you see me and I seem a bit testy, I’ve probably just been reading something on our letterheadJ.

Nice job to those that attended the Adworkshop/Inphorm highway cleanup.
We got down, we got dirty, then celebrated the accomplishment with a couple brews after.

Couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful fall day. Go team.
